The lyre looks like the Eye of Sauron, and the blood spreading out is like the blight of Mordor. It’s all symbolic and stuff.

Ha ha! And here I thought you might have me dying some sort of horrible death in an airplane.

Lyre’s are for people who can’t memorize music. To that point: Back in the 50s, it became stylish for conductors to conduct from memory. Somebody asked the famous German conductor Hans Knapertsbusch why he still used a score and didn’t conduct from memory. He replied, “Why should I conduct from memory ? I can read music.”

Thanks, Chariot. Merry Christmas.

There is a quote attributed to Louis Armstrong that goes something like this:

“Some days you get up and put the horn to your chops and it sounds pretty good and you win. Some days you try and nothing works and the horn wins. This goes on and on and then you die and the horn wins.”

No, but I know people who are allergic to brass, and can get a reaction from playing on a mouthpiece with worn plating.
